Today, we spent a great day at the Schonbruun Palace! While we were there, we had a tour of the estate and learned about the Royal Hapsburgs. Empress Elisabeth was a beautiful and extravagant woman whom Franz Joseph worshipped his whole life. She was the first woman who was ever noted to exercise on a regular basis to keep her weight down. Before Elizabeth, women were more rounded, as that had societal status implying wealth.
But all that changed when Elizabeth preferred to be “small in the waist”. It then became attractive to have more curves and a tiny waist line. So……..we have Elizabeth to thank for our drudgery of exercise. Which, by the way, I am going to have to do a lot after this vacation!!!
Stay tuned for my next blog on our European adventure!
