For the rest of this week I want to discuss the top beauty mistake that you see everyday. There is one beauty mistake that most people see every summer – streaked self-tanner and orange spray tanner. We all have been guilty of this at one time or another, but this week we want to show our concern and recognize why this should be outlawed as a major beauty crime! Some people may think that it is expressing their personality, while others try to mimic what they see on fashion runways. But for whatever the reason you used, we want to shed some light and let you know that it does not look good!
Unless you have a starring role in a movie titled, “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”, you should not paint yourself orange. If uneven stripes are not what you are aiming for, then you may want to seek out a professional.
Dr. Wright’s Tip
Self tanner is an ideal way to receive a bronze goddess glow without the side effects of dangerous UVA and UVB rays. Tanning beds and sun bathing are hazardous to your skin and your health. These activities lead to age spots and skin cancer. Therefore, the next best thing is self tanning by using a product that does not include sunlight. Remember, you want to give yourself that sun kissed look, so apply in moderation. Before applying, there are some steps that you should take to make sure that your tan is even. Make sure to exfoliate and moisturize before applying your tanning spray. Exfoliation will smooth the skin texture and allow the tan to be even. Next, you want to make sure you moisturize your skin to make it more supple. When applying tanner, make sure to wear gloves and spray in a circular motion. Wearing gloves will prevent weird orange hands. Always make sure to rub it in as much as possible and apply very carefully on elbows, knees and ankles. Let your skin dry for at least an hour before putting on clothes or going to bed. You can also use a blow dryer to speed up the process.
Thanks for those tips! I know that when I do use self tanner, I try to make sure I put some regular lotion on the elbows and knees, ankles first, just so those spots won’t get a lot darker than the rest of me; it just looks odd and I don’t want to look like I had WAY too many carrots!
Also, Jamie you may want to exfoliate those areas before applying you skin tanner. This will make you knees and elbows look smoother and the color will last longer.
Generally I don’t read post on blogs, but I wish to say that this write-up forced me to try and do it! Thanks, quite nice post.
Hello my friend! I wish to say that this post is awesome, nice written and includes alot of significant info. I would like to see more posts like this .
I was a bit pale and was always looking for a safe option to tanning. I am not the type to bake in the sun and the sun beds, with all of the risks attached, definitely weren’t an option. A friend introduced me to a sunless tanning product. I really enjoy it and it looks natural.
