Acne Face Mapping… What are Your Pimples Are Telling You!

According to Holistic and Chinese Medicine practices, acne in certain areas of your face can be from underlying health issues. While Chinese medicine practitioners and reflexologists believe that certain zones of your face represent certain internal areas of your body, face mapping for acne is not the all-in-all “cure” to getting rid acne but might be a good start to evaluate your diet.

Dr. Fiona Wright Tip:

While internal problems can be one of the main reasons for acne, especially if you get cystic pimples, there are several other factors that can be responsible for breakouts.  These range from skin care products, hygiene, hormones, allergies, genetics, etc.  Let’s take a look at what could be the causes of pimples in certain areas of the face:

Forehead– Digestive Problems (hard time breaking down certain foods), Liver Issues, Irregular Sleeping Patterns, Stress, Bad Temper, Too Much Sugary Foods, Toxin Build Up, Hair Products

Temples– Poor Lymphatic Circulation, Diet Too High in Fat, Gallbladder Issues, Too much Processed Foods

Between Brows– Too Much Alcohol, Too Much Tobacco

Nose– Poor Diet, Constipation, Bloating, Gastrointestinal Imbalance, Indigestion (Poor Circulation if nose peels)

Right Cheek– Lungs, Allergies, Stress, Stomach Problems, Too much Sugar, Dirty Cell Phone, Dirty Pillowcases, Dirty Makeup Brushes, Blush Allergy

Left Cheek– Liver, Overeating, Nutrition Hard to Absorb, Stress, Stomach Problem, Dirty Cell Phone, Dirty Pillowcases, Dirty Makeup Brushes, Blush Allergy

Lip Area– Constipation, Irregular Bowels, Too Much Spicy or Fatty Foods, Tiny Whiteheads above the lip can indicate ovulation for women

Chin– Hormonal Problems, Gynecological Issues, Kidney Imbalance (for under the face/chin), Resting Hands on Face

While it is interesting that most of the common factors of acne are nutrition based, just because you break out on your forehead, doesn’t automatically mean there’s something wrong with your liver. Begin making changes in your diet like incorporating more greens and easily digested foods as well as more water intake. Also, practice better hygiene and you will start to see in an improvement in your overall skin health.
