Skincare Myth: Oily skin doesn’t need a moisturizer.

This is false. Moisturizing your skin is refreshing and nourishing to any skin type, but especially for dry skin. Oily skin is generally dehydrated even though it contains excess sebum. When women use powerful cleansers to get rid of the excess oil, they just end up aggravating the problem. It is important to understand that oil and moisture are two different things. Oily skin may lack moisture. The key is to use a good water-based moisturizer that hydrates the skin without making it too oily.

Dr. Wright’s Tip
To hydrate oily skin without causing clogged pores, aim for a water based moisturizer. If you have oily skin, you really do not want to skip the step of hydrating your skin daily. When you wash your face you may be removing some of the oils that are there to protect your skin. As you age, you tend to lose more moisture in your face and that can also accelerate the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.  Try using my ULTRA HYDRATING MOISTURIZER, which is water based, so it is non-greasy and can be used on the oiliest of skin. Its feather-weight texture instantly restores the skin’s natural moisture without contributing to breakouts or blemishes.

You know, for the longest time, with my oily/combination skin, I totally believed that I did not need to use any kind of moisturizer on those oily parts in particular…..BUT, to my surprise, when I didn’t, those same parts seem to get WORSE not better. To my surprise, when I did replace moisture loss there, lo and behold, less of an issue with the oily places. Go figure. That and I love the suggestion of a water based product; that does make a difference!
