How VelaSHAPE III treats Cellulite
When you have a VelaSmooth treatment, four things happen in one pass. Infrared, Bipolar Radiofrequency, Vacuum, and Massage Rollers work together. You are not choosing separately between a heat treatment and a lymphatic massage. That synergy is the device’s main reason for success!
Infrared light heats the more superficial skin layers. Infrared pre-heats the skin and lowers its electrical resistance, so radiofrequency can pass through more evenly and reach the deeper fat and fibrous bands.
Bipolar radiofrequency is the deep heat in a VelaShape treatment. It is the part that actually reaches the anatomy of cellulite. Cellulite is fat pushing up through fibrous bands (septae) while the skin above is relatively thin. Bipolar RF is meant to heat that whole sandwich: fat cells, the bands around them, and the deeper collagen.
Pulsed vacuum pulls the skin into the applicator so the energy reaches the target more evenly and a bit deeper.
Massage rollers treat the tissue as a physical structure, not with heat. They knead and roll the skin and fat while the vacuum lifts it into the handpiece. The massage boosts local circulation and lymphatic flow, which can reduce the boggy, swollen look that makes cellulite worse.

What are the Main Differences of Z-SMOOTH and VelaSMOOTH?
- RADIOFREQUENCY (RF) ENERGY:Z-SMOOTH offers 3 different energies – 1, 2 and 4 MHz which allow for superficial textural skin treatments all the way to deeper cellulite and fat contouring levels.VelaSMOOTH has a fixed RF energy of 1Mhz to address only deeper cellulite and contouring.
- INFRARED LIGHT:Offered only by VelaSMOOTH to treat the skin surface to a depth of 3mm and provide surface skin treatment. The Z-Shape uses its 4Mhz radiofrequency energy to address surface skin concerns.
- VACUUM:Z-SMOOTH can be set at constant vacuum or can be adjusted to one of the 3 pulse modes that it offers. Strength level of the vacuum has 10 settings of different intensity. Z-Wave PRO technology is a clinically-tested Radial Pulse Therapy (RPT) which delivers painless high-energy acoustic waves to a localized area of the body.
