North Texas Fair & Rodeo

Fair

When: August 16 – 24, 2013

Where: North Texas Fairgrounds

2217 N. Carroll Blvd.
Denton, TX 76201

What: The North Texas Fair and Rodeo is a bit smaller that the state fair, but like most things in Denton, it’s got serious moxie. The nightly rodeo, for example, gets the dirt flying in all the right ways and at 7:30 p.m. Monday, the Invitational Ranch Rodeo pits area ropers against each other in categories like “Team Doctoring,” “Team Sorting” and, of course, bronc riding. There will be a carnival with rides that’ll make your cotton-candy-fed tummy lurch in all the right ways, plus live music nightly. Monday’s featured entertainer is Cody Jinks — who claims to be so country he was conceived in a honky-tonk — at 9:30 p.m. The fair is open from 6 p.m. until midnight daily through Saturday, August 24, with extended hours on weekends from 1 p.m. until midnight.

Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at ntfair.com.
